Why Is It Called "Cheerful Churchill"?

Thanks so much for peeking around the blog!

A question that might be running through your head is, "Why on earth is it named 'Cheerful Churchill Photography?' That is the most random name for a photography buisness ever!"

Truth is... it isn't so random.

Winston Churchill, 1874 - 1965, was the Prime Minister who led Great Britain through WWII. He is a man known for his great leadership, his straightforwardness, his courage, his honesty, his way with words, and his willingness to deal with the unpleasant future. Unlike other men in the years leading up to WWII, he saw where rising Germany was going (into making Europe her empire) and fought in government for girding up England's defenses and challenging Germany (who was breaking all of her promises regarding her army and the treaties established with other nations) instead of giving in to Germany's whims. He was clear in his intentions, yet he spoke with a simple elegance. Look for "Winston Churchill quotes" – you'll find a multitude of awesome ones. Or even better, read his 6-book series on World War Two. It's fabulous. I'm currently halfway through the second book and loving it.

And that's really how I am, and how I strive to be, in my photography. Like Winston Churchill. As much as photography can be like Winston Churchill. My images are clear, with simple elegance. Sharp and concise. A dash of cheerful brightness. I tell a story through my photographs, whether it's about a prairie schoolteacher, a teacup, or your very own love story. And I very much hope to be remembered, like Winston Churchill, for a job well done.

So, I hope I answered the questions you must have had in your head about why I named this
"Cheerful Churchill Photography"! And I hope that you see a sort of English flavour in my work.

Just be thankful I didn't name this "Chubby Churchill Photography". Because I was sorely tempted to.
